Bedroom Feng Shui for Better Sleep
Your bed position is the single most impactful feng shui adjustment you can make.
I've slept in 12 different bedrooms across 8 apartments. The difference between a room that drains you and one that restores you comes down to three things — and none of them require buying anything.
1. The Commanding Position
This is the #1 rule in bedroom feng shui: you want to see the door from your bed, but not be directly in line with it.
The ideal: your bed is diagonal from the door, with a solid wall behind the headboard. You can see anyone entering, but you're not the first thing they see.
How to find yours:
- Stand at your bedroom door. Look at the wall diagonal to the door. That's where your bed should go.
- If your bed is directly in line with the door ("coffin position"), move it even 30 degrees.
- If you can't move it, place a tall dresser or screen between the door and bed as a visual shield.
2. Mirror Placement
| Location | Verdict | Fix |
|---|
| Facing the bed | ❌ Worst | Move or cover at night |
| Closet mirror reflecting bed | ⚠️ Problematic | Keep door closed |
| Not facing bed | ✅ Fine | No change needed |
| Dresser mirror, angled | ✅ Acceptable | Tilt slightly down |
3. Quick Fix Checklist
- ☐ Bed diagonal from door
- ☐ Headboard against solid wall
- ☐ No mirror reflecting bed
- ☐ Electronics minimized
- ☐ Room colors are soft, not stimulating
- ☐ No clutter under bed
Most people fix their bed position and see improvement within 3 nights. Try it tonight.
